I have got a strange braking fault ( I have no faults listed on my hawkeye) if I brake more than once or twice I have a very hard brake I have checked for any air leaks ( and replaced the oneway valve ) I did fit a new alterntor/ vacuum pump and when I pull the oneway valve / pipe off there is a vacuum but not 100% sure how much vacuum it should have all I can think is poss brake booster gone faulty

You have just used up the available vacuum, nothing terrible. If you have a V8 it takes longer to run the reservoir out if the engine is running. The TD5 has a vacuum pump on the back of the alternator.

I've had the same on mine ever since I bought it, I know a couple of others that have too. First press is normal, second press if done quickly after the first is firm. Still works though so that's alright with me :D

It should t go hard after one press of the brake there isn't any air leaks / vacuum leaks I suspect it a faulty vac pump or even a faulty or stuck slidder

A stuck slider is easy enough to check before looking at the vacuum pump, just the pain of removing all 4 calipers to see what's up (warm garage needed in this weather! :D :D)

I've noticed a different phenomenon. Sometimes I get a harder braking application on the second press, but what i mean by that is when I'm slowing down on the road, off the brakes then back on & the second time is more efficient for the same effort, not loss of servo assistance. I was told that the first press seats the pads against the discs, taking up any clearance caused by vibration on the road, then the pads are right against the disc for the second press.

That's probably a better explanation of my experience actually

Took it for its mot and they have failed it on the brakes they have tryed to tell me the brake servo is defected so I need to find a fix i swopped the servo over for a good used on and it made no difference
