Stranded with a broken diff

Hi there,
this is the first time i need to start a thread because im stranded in germany.
today in the middle of holland on my way from england to germany my front diff of my 110 200 TDI ripped appart so i spent all day removing the propshaft and then i found my self a farmer with a big drill to grind down the hubs to be able to go on to germany.
so now my problem is that i will need to get a new front diff send to germany to be able to return to england and also enjoy the great off roading here.
so my question is if someone knows a reliable shop in the UK which would be able to send a diff and a propshaft ( which also broke when the diff jammed ) to germany.

surely if yu engage difflock, it will still drive in 2wd mode?

DVs Disco has prob done 1000 miles or more in 2wd with diff lock engaged

When you say "grind down the hubs", do you mean drill out the drive members?
Anyway, Paddocks will ship to Germany for a reasonable cost. You could also try Craddocks for a cheaper 2nd hand Diff.

take the diff out and drive 2wd.Could try takein arf prop.not sure if this will work.I used my series in 2wd for 18months like that...

assuming that you need a diff for 4wd to enjoy the offroading over there just give paddocks or craddocks a ring. I dont understand why you had to drill anything? Confused please explain Jai

also is it a 10 splline or 24 spline i think they are 10 but not 100% I think i understand now did you drill out the splines on the drive members on the hubs? If so you will need 2 more drive members. This would make sense cos you can leave the damaged diff installed and not worry about steering problems affected by the cv's. Jai

Hi Jai,
yes exaclety that was the case because all that **** happend in the middle of no where and i wasnt sre if i can dissasamble everything...
just to let u guys know, i did after this happend with the engaged difflock ca. 1000 miles with no problems the only thing was that i have to get used to the sporty feeling with only the rear wheels on

Bloody hell!

Is it normal for these defenders to have exploding diffs.
I thought they were tough reliable beasts?!! :O
