I am reading about people who are having trouble knowing their stolen parts... or parts of their stolen landys are being flogged on fleabay but the ob are doing nothing or they are having trouble proving it. One guy has posted an interesting idea of stamping the items... quick, cheap easy and I personally think a brilliantly simple measure... but...

I am thinking along more techy lines.

It would be possible, with a little thought and development, to make an rfid tag that would sit on any part of the land rover and could identify itself to anyone who waved a simple scanner (about £20) around the vehicle.

Over complicated? Maybe not if it was linked to a register of tags and the vehicles they are issued to.

OK Shoot me down:D

The problem with buying cheap chinese parts is that they are cheap and chinese. You really want these things to be bomb proof and reliable. I would go for a European manufacturer every time. A little more money perhaps... but if your cheap chinese part fails when you want it most then it is not really a good investment.

Couldn't agree more
