sorry to hear that mate. no alarm or anythin?

just looking into one of these CAR ALARM AND IMMOBILISER. REMOTE START. 17 FEATURES on eBay (end time 24-Jul-10 13:22:46 BST) as a cheap little bit of security for mine. has anyone used anything like this?

get some piccies up bud so we can look out for it down this way

That looks remarkably like an immobiliser unit I had to bypass on a converible vw golf the other day. Some oik had tried nicking it and failed miserably. They'd destroyed the wiring in the process (mainly burnt). It took me about 45 mins to get the bastid going.

not sure if thats a good or a bad thing? haha

To be 100% honest with you a well fitted cheap alarm/ immobiliser is harder to bypass then a badly fitted top of the range alarm/immobiliser.

Cutting and joining the wires in the right places and then looming ALL the wires with a good quality black insulation tape can add anywhere from an extra 15mins to an hour to the job of bypassing the system.;)

then its sold. ill be fitting that in the next few days. cant hurt anyway can it.

quite like the fact i can kill the engine if needs be from outside aswell.

about time i re-done a lot of the wiring anyways and if i lost her i'd be devastated as im sure all in this forum would or have been.

Guys, and Girls,
Thanks for the comments and extra sets of eyes on the look out. I still hold out a little hope but starting to fade. looks like an insurance job but will hold off sending keys back for a week incase she turns up. Keep yours secure, nail em to the ground as I hear a lot are going missing.

Or... if you never plan to work on the wires again use Gaffa tape as well. That has to be the biggest pain in the arse to get off wires!

always get a key cut before sending yours back. that way if it does turn up, at least you can open it and either lock yourself in the vehicle while calling for help, or open the bonnet and disabled the engine while waiting for help to arrive.
