Don't see the point at the mo it looks like ****e from outside but £££ in engine bay and underneath. Will look the part come summer.

To be honest, I'm not surprised your Defender was nicked, although I massively sympathise with you, its such a heartache when this sort of thing happens.

It looks like there's a ton of kit on it that could be sold on quite easily. Being so unique, it will prob have been stripped for parts. No criminal is likely to keep it as is, unless it's in an ISO container waiting to leave the country.

The problem at the moment is that people would rather spend their money on a new bit of bling for their Defender, instead of a decent piece of security hardware, be it a clutch claw, or steering lock. Some people still doubt the effectiveness of tracking devices and even basic car alarms. (subject to ISO's etc, before you all bite!)

A defender is easy to steal. It is your prerogative as an owner to make it as difficult as possible, for these ****ers to steal yours. This won't help get yours back, but it may give you some pointers for the next one.

Sorry yours was stolen, it does sound a bit dodgy, but then again, proving these things is notoriously difficult...

Mine is usually blocked in by other cars on the driveway and some1 is always in so doubt mine will go walkies but never say never !!

mate dont underestimate the thieves,my old defender was allways blocked in by my pickup and car,i went out drinking one night and my wife came to pick me up in the car(10 min round trip)came back and the 90 was gone.
ive also heard storys of the thieves shoving cars out the way with the landy, and i know of a bloke who's 90 got pinched by them driving it through his fence and hegde.
the more security you put on the better cos once there in it and got it started you havent got much chance of stopping them

No that's not true. If you've got a disc lock, clutch claw, cat1 alarm and immobiliser, chained to a ground anchor I doubt very much they would even attempt to take it
i agree, dont make it easy for them.just something as simple as a disclok and a flashing red LED would be enough to deter most theives.
but the harder you make it for them the better

If some joy riders want it I agree but if pro thieves which is 99% of the time it will make no difference it may take them 20 sec longer they don't work alone and will have it if it's worth taking

i dont despute that and agree there is thieves out there that make a living out of it,but just a few simple security devices may deter them,or slow them down which could result in them being disturbed.
i just hate to hear of peoples landys getting nicked and probably stripped by these scum who probably never done an honest days graft in there life.

The disclocks alone can take upto half an hour to get off. Trust me I know this coz I lost keys for mine and had to pay a professional to get it off, took him half hour and he does it for a living.
that i can believe, and i bet he wasnt very quite removing it either, the discloks are well worth there money

I do work for people who take landys, if they have a disclock and an alarm they stay away coz theres always 1 easier just a few mile away. I dont choose to do work for them but I'm not the boss at my work so can't refuse to do it. Just hear them talking to my work mates about stuff.1 thing I've learnt is if its gunna take more than 2 min to take it then they walk away, same if its got a disclock or alarm they walk away as it makes 2 much noise to get the disclock off. There not magic people who can turn sound off ya no!!. I don't choose to know these people but I now know what they avoid

So what about a low loader?? Brand new range rovers have all the security features and they still go missing so what is your call on that then?

I know a thief who took off a brand new set of alloys from a brand new BMW at there dealership. If they want something they will have it away.
