Hi all,
Bought a Volume Control Switch to fit to my steering wheel....as my wheel is the basic one, after watching a video on You Tube on how to simply swap over a basic wheel to the Volume Wheel i thought it would be easy to just fit a switch etc etc:D
Sadly no, switch is fitted but i have no idea what wires (2 of) go into the main plug....this plug already has 2 wires fitted to the central pins for the horns in it...so there are 2 pins empty either side....
Now if by some miracle that i actually suss this out will my aftermarket Kenwood stereo work fine with the volume control:confused:

If anybody can help by telling me where the wires go i would be most grateful...

Cheers;)

hiya

the paddles should have come with a small green wire that simply plugs in behind the airbag, it has a double plug one for the ive paddle and the other for the cruise control paddle

hope that helps abit

Hi Gary,
The paddle only comes with an attached small harness with a plug....the unit is basically for if you were swapping over a faulty paddle....so basically i need to make up a small harness, connect it to the new paddle wires (black/white & black/red wires) & then fit the new harness into the bigger plug that fits into the top of the steering wheel......sounds so easy but its knowing what wires go where!!!!!
Need to find the correct configuration....there are only 6 pins on the big plug, the middle 2 have the horn wires......so its 4 pins left....2 at each side.....

Wish i hadnt started:mad:

hiya the rave disc will tell you

there should be a double green female connector behind the air bag , you can still buy the short green plugged wiring loom

if u put some pics up please will tell u whats missing and what u need

hiya

had a quick look and found a pic of this steering wheel

youve got the paddle wiring but then need another small loom that takes u from that onto the green connector

have a look and see what u think

u can get the small looms from main dealers as i cant find the small loom that goes from the paddle to the coupler or might be able to get a second hand one

hope it helps

gary

Hi, cant take a picture just now as i have put everything back 2gether.....did get a close up picture sent to me by an eBay member but its really difficult to see where the wires go into the actual plug before i push the plug in.
Too expensive to buy a 2nd hand wheel just for the loom.....
Found out on an earlier thread that the main loom down to the stereo has all the wiring pre-installed so should work ok with my Kenwood...

Really need a kind member 2 take off their airbag & note where & what colours go where:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Cheers

There is a video on YouTube by powerful uk showin you how to fit the volume controls on the steering wheel which shows all the wiring and step by step.

Hi, that is the video i was talking about but its very difficult to see exactly where the 2 wires from the paddle fix into the green plug (& which colour goes where) before you push the plug into the main loom.....

Cheers
