Bought one of these Quick release snap on/off bosses but it doesnt fit my aftermarket steering wheel. Ive decided to buy a new steering wheel anyway, perhaps a Momo wheel.

So if I buy this Momo boss would you expect it all to fit together nicely? The seller of the snap off boss is only contactable by email and Im awaiting their reply.

I have a 48 spline steering column (dont ask me how many times I tried counted those pesky splines)

The quick release boss fits to your existing boss. The idea is you depress the release button and the steering wheel comes off with one half of the QR boss attached to the wheel, and the otther half attached to your original boss.

Think Ill take a chance and buy the Defender/Momo boss and a Momo steering wheel. Shame their so expensive , but they sure look nice. Especially the Quarke model with the flat bottom, which means more leg room :)

i had this momo on my fender and that was fookin eggspensive

But certainly looks nice though wiltshire :)

...which leads to my next dilemma, which of these wheels to choose from? Think its either gunna be the Jet, Gotham or Quarke.

Any opinions anyone?

It's not a Momo boss. It's a Mountney boss which fits Momo wheels. Not being pedantic, but be sure of what you are buying. Momo wheels will fit any number of other make bosses, maybe even your current one.

Having just gone through something similar (replacing my wheel, but not snap off), could you say why the snap off boss doesn't fit the boss for your current after market wheel?

Because, as others have posted, the snapoff actually attaches to the existing boss and wheel, the type of steering shaft you have (48 or 36 spline) shouldn't make a difference. This might sound a silly question, but did you try fitting it without your existing boss? (not a suggestion BTW)

Thanks Tazz

I think my steering wheel is a Mountney one, with a boss to suit. The snap off boss is too small in diameter to fit either my boss or steering wheel (see the photos below).

The snap off wont fit on its own, it has to fit between the wheel and existing boss. Its about 5 years since I swapped the wheel over. Cant remember if I would have taken an original boss off, or did the original wheel fit straight on without a boss?

If I buy a new Momo wheel, and the Defender/Momo boss in the link in my first post, do you think it will fit the snap off?

Heres a photo of the snap off placed on top of my boss

and my steering wheel placed over the top of the snap off

The original wheel wouldn't have needed a boss as it was built into the wheel.

It should do, particularly as it's advertised as being universal. The only way you will know for definite is to measure the external diameter of the boss in the advert. You might also need to check that the screw holes align.

I can't help you myself as I chose a Mota Lita wheel and I needed to buy a new boss as the holes in my Mountney boss didn't align.
