steering swivels and c v joints

From looking through the question and answers on the forum. I have, I think, narrowed down the knocking on my 300 tdi to either the CV joint or the swivel housing.

it only happens on a full left lock either while winding it on or on return. But do change the right one or the left one or both
 
I dunno why.......it's just recomended........A hint : if u have the car jaccked up and u already greased yor hands, at least u'll know that the bits that u replaced are in good shape........just think U work and change the RF CVJ .......will u be sure that in...... i.e. a week the LF CVJ wont fail:confused:.....just 1 idea............CVJ's/hubs/bearings/swivells/ brake pads/ etc in my mind are like shoes;).......work in pairs.....but I may be :crazy:
 
Ok, in my :doh:ness I did it in pairs.........I admit that the CVJ or hub thing is a bit exagerated(not too much) ..........but after brakes i'm still hanging at least on swivels
