Hey guys,

Just fitted some 265 75 16 MTs, on Boost Alloys to my Discovery.

I've adjusted the steering stop locks by 5mm, thinking this would give a decent enough clearance of the arms, but when I've test driven it the bolts are just too far forward now.

Can anyone tell me the best measurement for adjustment?

I measured them at 26mm before I fiddled with them and 30mm after.

Also, is there supposed to be a locking nut on them? Mine only has a washer and standard nut.

Cheers in advance.

Matt

I just thought I'd ask before spending loads of time on it tomorrow and maybe messing it up.

I thought it would be a good idea to check with the wealth of experience on this forum and potentially save me a load of time messing in the morning.

:)

Surely a few minutes trail and error will give you the answer?

Why ask for exact measurements from people who's complete set up might well be different?

As Beasty says!!!! Took about 5 mins trial and error. " turn steering !!! Touching!!!! Adjust!!!! Turn steering !!!!! Not touching . Cool!!! Short test drive!!! Simples!!! (same size tyres as yours). It's really easy unless seized stops, that's a different story.
Or as Haigy says below.

Got back under it yesterday and found out what was wrong.

2 new bolts and it's as easy as you've all said.

Cheers

Hi Steve.

The bolts are located on the front of the swivel housings, so quite easy to get to.

Cheers,

Matt

It's only a steering stop. Personally I find it easier to not turn the steering wheel all the way if it rubs (or back of slightly). The have **** poor enough turning circle as is, without restricting it further with the stops.

Honestly I'd say, run a different wheel/tyre combo or add some wheel spacers.

I used to run 33.11.50's on 15x10 rims with the lock stops fully wound in (might have removed them actually) and no rubbing on the radius arms.
