UPDATE:
Apparently the part I need is obsolete and no longer available. Got this e-mail from Britcar:

Thank you for your recent order, unfortunately QEP104801 is now fully obsolete from Land Rover, I have carried out a Europe wide search and there are no dealers anywhere showing stock of this part, as a result we have cancelled your order and processed a full refund for you.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
Now this has been brought to our attention we will be removing the part of our website.
I hope we can help in the future."
So, now what? I'm thinking that this part must be pretty simple to make. It's just a length of small diameter steel tube and two fittings. Surely a hydraulics specialist could make one? There are a few of those in Shetland as the marine industry up here is quite big.
I don't think a second hand rack locally will be an option as it will suffer the same issues. I'll check prices online....
