today i got round to fitting the new steering box!
the old one when i took it off i see why i had problems with the steering (post a few weeks ago asking about slack wobbly steering) the full drop arm had loads of play on it!

any way the new box is in and all seems good, only problem im finding is its quite stiff to steer, just wondering if ive done something wrong, i remember reading something about some bolt you can adjust that make it stiffer/lighter or something?

also if feels as if its stiffer to steer to the left than the right.. not 100% sure tho. is it possible to put the steering rod in the wrong way or anything?

other than that, any ideas??

ya shud see the adjuster on top of the steering box....think is a 15 or 17mm locknut with an adjuster bolt that takes a flat s/driver. anti-clockwise is to back off and clockwise is to firm up....back it off abt a quarter turn at a time coz if ya go too far you get play in yer steering. ideally u want about a eighth inch o play on yer steering wheel

cheers mate, i will try that!

ok ive just tested it today, it seems normal steering to the left, when turning to the right from any position it seems like there is no power steering for a second or 2, then it seems to kick in and feels normal... any ideas as its quite horrible turning left and not being able to straight away!

im not a p/steering expert mate, but sounds ta me like ya may have an air lock in the system. ill make a few calls an see wot i can find out for ya.

watch it you cheeky *unt

a manual steering box is filled with EP90. as you never specified which type of set-up you had you were being quite vague at the best of times. i assume you now have PAS

i didnt mean it in a sarcastic way, didnt know ther was different types, i thought they were just filled with power steering fluid
