Steering problem

Hi Guys,

I have a 1995 300tdi and yesterday I was pulling out of my drive on full right hand lock and I felt a pop in the steering wheel and then I had no more power steering. I have checked the power steering res and there is fluid and no bubbles coming up and the belt is all intact.

Can anyone suggest a problem and what I am going to have to change?

The power steering has not worked since.

What would I be looking at price wise to replace a ball joint?
 
steering wheel connected to coloumn ,coloumn turns box ,box through drop arm ball joint works drag link ,no ball joint no steering ,if your steering still works but has no power assistance pump shaft snapped rare but can happen,or piston rack in box
 
its not a series vehicle is it i thought it was disco with 4 bolt box with piston driving sector shaft through rack or at least all the ones ive built are like that
 
to loose the assistance part rare ,but if improves with revs sounds like pump ,i could lend you pump to try to prove point,easy to fit
