Disco 1 Steering damper relocation with Sump Guard

Howdy all,

Giving the old girl a going over ready for her forthcoming MOT next month, and first job is to replace the steering damper (as waiting for a new gas cylinder for the welding ), as its 20 years old!

As I have bigger tyres and HD springs etc am going to fit the TERRAFIRMA Return To Centre HD Steering Damper RTC - TF835 and make up a relocation kit to fit to the front drag link, but having looked at the extortionist kits for sale, they seem to go where the steering guard mounts.







I haven't checked underneath mine yet to see - been lazy sorry!

Just wondering if anyone else has relocated with a steering guard and what they did - can't imagine it will be too difficult to fabricate up a bracket to fit and get a couple of bolts and u-bolts......famous last words.......

Have been out to have a look as actually not raining for a change, and will be able to use holes that are already there like below and cut out the metal as I have drawn to get the right angle given I cannot use a hole that is used with the steering guard........


Will then just weld a side onto it at 90 degrees to strengthen it and stop it bending
