My series 2 has got an early steering column with a pinch bolt on the back of the steering wheel to attach it.Will a series 3 column fit straight on so I can change the steering wheel.

Thought it wouldn't be straightforward if landrover had anything to do with it lol. Just wanted to change the steering wheel and didn't want to drill and play about with the new boss.

I think it will fit in exactly the right place. Bear in mind that the series 3's have a steering lock and the horn isn't located in the middle of the steering wheel. Is there a reason you want to change the steering wheel? The series 3 steering wheel is much more pleasant than the series 2 types. What made a difference on my series 2 was a cheap lace up steering will cover for £6 from eBay. A bit more comfortable and no black dirty hands on cold mornings when arriving at work.

I taped some foam on to the steering wheel then fitted the same sort of cover.

The only reason I want to change the wheel is since I put a 2.0 ltr engine in the steering is very light with the large wheel. Just thought a smaller wheel would be a bit less responsive.

Complaining about series steering being light... now theres a first!

to be honest i find my series light to steer at speed but just got used to it. What 2ltr engine is it by the way? The original series 2 type?

Its a perkins 2ltr turbo diesel out of a montego. When I took the old 2.25 petrol out the front lifted about 2 inches and never went back down with the new lighter motor.
