Hi Guys

Something wrong with me steering...

There seams to be a dead spot from wheel driving straight to actually turning...

When the wheels are turned steering is spot on, turn the steering wheel and the road wheels respond straight away within a couple of degrees movement.... However when wheels are straight (driving straight ahead) there must be 40 degrees movement at the steering wheel from dead centre to either direction before the road wheels turn... This leads to wandering when driving in a straight line.

What should I do ?? I have tried adjusting the steering box, can make the steering heavy or loose, but there still seems to be a dead spot in the middle.

Thanks in advance guys !

SOund slike your box is worn ( common ) , only way to adjust them without the steering locking up take as much play as you can out of the box when its on full lock , other wise it might lock on you when your in a corner ....... failing that try and find another good 2nd hand box :) .

.

Let someone turn the steering wheel while you have a feel around. You should be able to see/feel where the play is.
Then act accordingle. If it is the box and you cant adjust it up then I agree, change it...
Unlikely but make sure the box is securely bolted to vehicle. I've seen those symptons caused by box itself being a bit loose.
Surprising how much play that causes..
Good luck.

i had that problem found out that the garage that changed the steering relay didnt put a bolt back in on the pinch clamp underneath.NUMPTIES

Some box's have an adjusting screw to take up wear, this can be set for slight drag, but do check eveything alse first including wear in the relay.
