steering box shaft seal

Hi All

I have a new seal kit to fit my disco & have the arm plus circlip removed already but can any one tell me how to get past this round rubber coated steel plate that sits in front of the main seal???

Box is a recon from safari landrover about 3 years ago & only has slight leak but still failed MOT

Thanx for that mate,

I got the steel backed rubber seal out by taking a small craft knife & cutting away the soft rubber lip to the inside edge of this ring then it just falls out

Then I put a very thin self tapping screw into the seal to remove it

The info on putting it back together will be well handy as thanks to you I now know what to look out for
