Hi all, had to replace steering ball joint as I split the boot removing it whilst replacing the fr. suspension.
I unscrewed the original 23 turns to get it off but the Lemforder replacement will only go on 22 turns, this can't be right can it ? I screwed the original back on & measured the amount of exposed thread & set the new one the same but it was 21 turns. I'm a bit loath to tighten the ball joint as I don't want to split the boot again if I have to remove it. Can anyone give me idea if I've done something wrong & point me in the right direction, if so please, many thanks.

I didn't touch the threaded adjuster other than check it wasn't seized for when I have the tracking checked

Is there the same amount of thread showing on the other side?
The track rods should be adjusted so they're the same length, but often lazy tracking people just adjust one side. This will also put the steering wheel off to one side, when driving straight.

I've still got to do the other side so I'll get the wheel off & have a measure, many thanks.
