Just about got the front axle steering bits finished on my rebuild, got steering box, pan hard rod, and track rod, Im just finishing the tie rod that connects on to the drop arm, with the steering damper, need to give it a good clean up and fit new end.
Anyway my Question is this.
The track rod with both ends that goes from one end to the other with the 2 track rod ends on, I got brand new one and just fitted it as it was. I noticed the ends are just screwed in to each side of the tube and there is no big nut to adjust them, should this be a specific length? for the tracking or will I need to set the whole steering up first ??

they are left and right hand ed threads so when you undo the clamp at each end by twisting the track rod tube one way or the other you can lengthen or shorten so adjusting the tracking
tracking and drag link adjusting should be done with pas box centralised theres a slot on some drop arms that can be aligned with a pin hole in bottom of pas box, or count turns lock to lock and center that way, drag link would be adjusted to set n/s wheel straight, then track rod to bring rhs wheel straight

Thanks James will get the rest finished then set it all up.

Forgot to ask are the Track Rod Ends ends and Clamps the same part numbers for the long tube and the short tube with damper on.

yes you need 2 rtc5869 rh ball joints 1 rtc5870 lh ball joint as well as 4 clamps nuts and bolts
Thanks Again, when I bought the long tube it already had ends fitted, so I only need the one for short tube that connects to steering box, so will it be one of the rtc5869s or an rtc5870

it would be rtc5869 as theres 2 per axle ie 1 on track rod 1 on drag link
Thanks its for drag link bar. I also need the clips that hold the brake and fuel lines to chassis, is there part numbers for these or are they universal fit?? cant find them in parts book

Be careful as there 2 sizes. You need the smaller size. They made the chassis holes bigger from TD5, I think.
