But I'm guessing you feel when bearings seated by experience? I don't have that experience so have to go by book to rule out user error :D
yes, but its not difficult to feel when adjusting nut till free play is just removed after first nipping up the nut then backing off, then tightening the second nut tight before locking tab washer over both
the book used to leave some free play which is not what you want

My only worry was bearing seating to be honest. I know if I hit 60 I have seated them right. Am I correct in saying adjuster nut and locking nut are identical? The thrust washer that came doesn't even fit either which was annoying. Old one was still fine but like using new bits as all else is new!

I wonder why? Maybe it had something to do with the thermal expansion characteristics of the assembly?

nuts are the same, as long as outer races are fully seated just nipping the bearing first is enough no exact torque is needed,thrust washers are fine to use again i usually do theres the early slot type and later d type
 
Perfect. Thanks gents. Races are definitely seated right. I checked over several times. I think I actually had it set nicely earlier. Never mind all good practice
