I struggle with sh1t weather - don't mind cold but hate grey depression. Now my last day off is a sunny one far more motivating!

Got the bit of stud out of the hub. Still one to go. Now the hole I removed the snapped stud from has a bit of a Nick in it. I've just installed a stud and torqued to 60nm and it held solid. What would you do? Replace axle or chance the damaged thread?

Haha nope but it sandwiched my head between chassis and pole. Was worth it to see the axle drop off though!

I was going to say you wouldn't believe the effort but you would haha.
First bolt moved easy. Second bolt was totally seized in fulcrum bracket. I gave up trying to get ball joint nut off and went for a frame bolts instead. Managed to split a gap with a chisel then get a 1mm disc in to chop the bolt. What a pain. Here's the a frame nut lol

Let me know if you do get stuck - I'm only 45 miles and got a tag. I'm not parking my motor up in bettws though as my rims will go missing

Haha. My head office is in Newport and half the people I work with are from bettws which is how I know.

What's your opinion on that stud thread? It torqued up fine but mat helicoil just to be safe

Yeah, I think helicoil would be fine.

@jamesmartin - could you advice please? I've damaged the thread in hub casing removing a snapped stud. Thinking helicoil might save my bacon

bottom right has a notch out of it. It torqued up to 60nm

yes helicoil or a recoil kit cheaper but as good m10x1.5

Thank you- ordered m10 x 1.5 earlier and wanted a pro opinion. Glad you said that as spent all morning cleaning the casing up!

Hours of wire wheel treatment and it's ready for paint

Takes a while to clean up, but worth doing.....looking good

Looks like someone will be tempted by a compressor and a shot blaster soon enough lol
