What are the pro's and con's of steel and aluminium underbody protection? Thought I'd throw this out there and get your opinions. I know not everyone agrees with having underbody protection but I would still like your opinions

Having had a steel steering guard on my Defender 90, I would recommend Ali, as the weight difference is so much different. I am about to fit an Ali one to my 300tdi. The chances of denting an ali one is very low. Having looked at friends, they seem really happy with theirs.
 
yep definitely agree, a land rover is too heavy to start off with so the less weight you can add the better!!! it is definitely worth spending the extra to reduce your weight.
 
Depends on what sort of offroading you are doing. I have 3/8" steel under my Jeep Wrangler - I think you want something that is strong enough to jack the vehicle up by.
 
If your Disco is too heavy you need an early mk1.

Mine is so full of holes it flies along :)
 
hmmmmm, let me see, thanks for the info on eagles yella, I am suprised that you don't have anything sensible to add though, does anyone else have an opinion regarding steel or alloy underbody protection? Please
