Hi,

not sure if it was a rogue owner (after what appears to be a badly done LPG tune possibly causing the CEL to turn on) or there's a genuine reason ....

But now a whole series of lights are not coming on when the ignition is turned as would normally for a self-test.

Had the car plugged into T4 diagnostics which gave me a lot of errors in the light check module. I am guessing this is because the lights aren't working:

  • Dimmer potentiometer open circuit
  • Engine oil pressure fault
  • Coolant temperature fault
  • Air suspension inactive/active
  • Engine emergency program fault
  • Transmission emergency program fault
  • Washer fluid level fault
  • Check coolant fault
  • Left dip beam headlight defective
  • Right dip beam headlight defective
  • Left tail light defective
  • Right tail light defective

Question is: is there a fuse that deals with all these specifically (I still have working lights for some things) that's seperate to one for things like parking brake etc or does it need a dash pull-out jobbie?

Thanks for your help in advance :)

Just a guess, has the dash been out/disconnected and not reconnected properly:)

Not during my ownership. Surely if that was the case no light would work?

Good thinking tho' ... That option never occurred to me!

Don't how many block connectors have to be disconnected when removing the dash, maybe down to just one faulty. As I said, only guessing:). Are the headlights/ taillights actually working? If they are then, guessing again, is the battery/alternator output ok. Seems to be a common fault with R/Rs:)

The lights all appear to be fine (minus the few fault codes about ignition voltage on the XID's being <7.5v).

The fact the lights on the dash don't come up when you flick the key I think means they're either fused (unlikely as some are working) or a connector is duff. I do think they have had the dash out when fitting the LPG as a wire has been run across the inside of the dashboard from the LPG ECU to the ODB2 side.

Thanks for your tips :)

Just done the NR-02 test on the dashboard and all lights work aside from the ABS, ((P)), Engine ones - will have to have the dash out. From looking at a few Youtube videos it seems it uses surface mount LED's so might be a royal pain in the butt !

I've done the nr-02 test which brings up all lights (in my case the faulty ones don't light)

Thanks :)

Just seen your video - that's the exact same one I followed !!

Yep, but it also shows what lamps should come on in normal operation....

The warnings you are getting are controled through the LCM (lighting control module).... Might pay to check those connections....

Also all the connections to the Instrument Pack....

Even during the test it doesn't show the 'missing' dash lights so I think this is a 'physical' fault - fuse, connector, light itself?

I'll check all connections to the LCM after locating it :)

Behind drivers a pillar trim....half visible and half buried behind the side of the dash!!

Quite possible bulbs gone...or previous removed lamps to mask warnings!

Thanks bud

When I looked at some of the videos the bulbs look like surface mount LEDs so not entirely sure they can be removed easily?

Pretty sure all the backlighting are capless lamps in small bases which you twist and unlock to remove

Don't know about the individual icons

Thay are, the only lamps that can be replaced are the back light ones (x5) but thay can put tape over them if thay take the the front clear case off, me knows this as i have just done the LCD display.:D

That could of been a dodgy seller trick.
I've seen the binnacles with bulbs removed & little wires jumping across.

It's a pain in the butt removing the binnacle as the whole dash has to come out.
