Starts sometimes

Had a dispute with the battery company yesterday. I have just now received a brand new higher spec battery with 4 year warranty. Also my multimeter arrived.

So i will get the battery fitted in the morning and start trying to get the landy started
 
***UPDATE***

Received new battery on Wednesday and fitted.

Put the original/old starter motor back in. Went through all the wiring, relays, fuses, joints, connections,earths, everything starting related................and everything OK.
Back to normal

Would like to know the original battery condition at the start of all of this.....

I guess that was the problem all along we just overlooked it due to it being a recent change.
 
I don't want to jinx it but maybe there is a hidden alternator problem that is not charging the battery properly, I don't know "how to" but I know you can test it with a Voltmeter.
 
U can check the alternator is charging by using a volt meter across the battery with the engine running. Ideally should be above 14 volts with no additional load. With heated rear screen, fan blower, and headlights all on full should still be in the high 13s
 
Surely if it was battery related then it would just click until it slowly turned over or got jump started. I could be wrong. Surely if something has high resistance somewhere a new battery would just mask the problem temporarily untill the charge drops.
I don't really know. I know what I mean I just can't write it. And even if I can write it I could be wrong.

Definitely wasn't the original battery, it was tested and there was nothing wrong with. I told them that when i called out the AA, they said that was the problem. So they changed it after a bit of row.

I will check the alternator ZDomZ suggested and report back.

I would like to know exactly what the problem was. Don't want it starting out of the blue in the future.

14.2 volts at 2K rpm or a little more needed for modern sealed lead calcium batteries.
