starting problem freelander 1

hello again peeps have done all that was suggested and still my freelander has intermittent starting probs i am wondering if it is possible that the immobiliser is not letting it start it turns over but will not start all suggestions welcome thanks les:doh::doh::doh:

I dont think your going to get much help in this section,dont think many peeps visit it.Anyway.If its an Lseries diesel,like mine it could be a dodgy wiring conection to the fuel pump (a problem I had in the past).On mine its a brown connector.

Hi, I'm new to this site, just bought a freelander with a few problems the seller did'nt tell me about. One of them was it would'nt start sometimes, turn the key and nothing happens, turn it a few more times and it started. After a bit of tracing the system backwards, found the ignition switch (black round plastic thing, other end of the key) was faulty. Bought a second-hand one on e-bay, problem solved. Hope this helps.

On petrol models, check the king lead, they are a weak point as the rub on the airbox - poor design!

Cats are quite weak too - so expect to need a replacement come MOT time if you have been cranking over - only £60 though!

Hello, I'm going to throw another headscratcher into the mix, in the hopes someone out there has an answer. Freelander 1, 2000, 1.8 petrol. She ran perfectly, never let me down, started 1st time every time, until... out for a drive, got her muddy, came home, gave her a clean. Next morning, turned her over but would not fire up. Not fuel pump, not relay, fuses, sparks or leads...even considered the immobilizer. Could it be a shortage of power to the fuel pump? How do I know or check? Or.... what else should I check? Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

If you cleaned her with a pressure washer, water and petrol engines simply don't mix.
Make sure there is no moisture on the ignition side.
