i dont have a lot of money to play with what mods wud old hands of green laneing recomend i ad to my disco first apart from good tires wich i have got thanks for eney advise :welcome2:

a spell checker:rolleyes:

you'll be suprised what a standard disco can do, but make sure you have a good tow rope just in case

Recovery attachments front and rear, Jate rings perhaps.
Go out a few times with more experienced people, certainly don't go out laning alone, I did today and got badly stuck ... ;)

Carry water, a spade/shovel and make sure you have the standard Disco bottle jack attached (Just in front of the airbox behind the headlight in the engine bay) Got me out of the sticky stuff!!

Don't buy shed-loads of gear till you have more idea, then what you want to do will tell you what you will need to do it.

First things to pick up, which you can start at the local farmers or country stores, is a couple of good sized d shackles and some decent rocovery points on the truck to attatch them to, a shovel and a bow saw - only needs to be a cheap one, you won't be using it every day! See a fisherman for a great peice of rope - don'y buy these car towing rubbish things, no good at all. You need something quite strong! Axe could be handy, a few pieces of wood as would maps and a basic compass to help you read the lanes when you are on open ground. That equipment is your basic recovery kit and should be with you at all times off road - there isn't much that you will fall foul of with that in your boot!! lol!

As for the truck, you have tyres, so next would be a lift to give more ground clearance and better approach/departure angles and then you can start thinking about snorkels and winch bumpers with the associated breather kits. You probably will get carried away as we all do!

If you're just laning, you can get away with no lift-especially if you've already bought tyres.you'll only get better "under diff" clearance if you lift & then buy another set of larger tyres to go with it. Get a portable air compressor for reinflating if you drop you're tyre pressures, Paddocks sell the T-Max range which are fairly priced. Take a sat nav/gps...if you get lost or stuck out in the sticks it's easier to phone for help with a post code/grid ref rather than trying to explain that "I'm down this lane off that road, through that wood", unfortunately from experience! ;)
