Just replaced the starter on my 4.6, what a pig of a job :mad: checked all the fluids while I was under the bonnet and noticed the empty header tank, checked the drivers side footwell and yes it was soaking, so now I need to replace those troublesome 'o'rings  thinking of using some radweld in the system to try and hang the job out till after the winter, anyone had any joy with the stuff.

I would'nt. The stealers quote 8-12 hrs to fix so have a guess and double it. There are a some short cuts for the fix on Range Rovers

I had the o rings replaced once in just over an hr.
If you are near to brum i have a contact.

Not radweld though unless desperate is my reknin.

Hi Ivor
Unless Brum has slid down the country by 150miles I'm afraid your contact couldn't help :) I don't mind doing the job myself but would prefer doing it on warmer drier days :D
I've read most of the shortcuts that are about on different sites so reasonably well armed.
Any reason why not to use radweld, I didn't think it caused any problems.

Some peeps rekon it works, and never have any probs.
others rekon it can cause internal blockages.

I used some years ago when in an escort, it fixed the leak and left the heater useless. the car also seemed to run hotter afterwards.

I never fancied using it again.

And ya not trying to fix a pin hole in ya rad, but stop or slowdown the leak between the o rings and the pipewalls.
Just my opinion, but someone else may know better.

I wouldn't use any additive, it's just a short term bodge, bite the bullet and fix the real problem, the radweld could only cause overheating problems in the hot summer months, and lets face it, you don't want overheating problems!!!
