having just got my disco 2 and getting used to its ways on start up from either hot or cold after starting there is a audible clonk not very loud from i would say the right rear of the engine bay any thoughts everything is fine and maybe they all do it

If you put your foot on the brake pedal when starting you will feel the 'clonk' you refer to. So unless your brake pedal is connected to your starter motor it's quite normal and nothing to worry about.

A brake pedal going clonk would be quite high on my worry list anorl.:rolleyes:
 
Hi there,

Had mine 2000 TD5 for about 3 months. I've never thought anything was wrong but when I turn the key and wait for the glow plug light to go out there is a whirring sound, then I turn the key and there is a clunk as you describe (not imediately on turning the key) and the whirring sound dies away. Could it be some sort of imobiliser release?

Never worried me just thought it was normal.

aye when i put me hand on me nob and turn the key in me hole i hear a strange noise .... sounds like someone crying like a biatch cause they got banned from a forum

He weren't banned. He wuz sent to the norty step. The problem is he then proceeded to throw tantrum after tantrum. Even Buckshot looks tame in comparison.;):p
