OK shoot me for asking this I proberly could find the answer but there is to much about wheels on here and Im to lazy to go through it all. I think the standard wheel is 5.5 inches wide and I have a set of 235 tyres on them that means my tyres are about 90 mm wider than the rim. As far as I know that is about as wide as is deemed safe on standard rims. My question is if this rule is the same for wider rims, for example wolf rims at 6.5 inches I think plus 90 mm = a 255 tyre and no wider. If this is rubbish please let me know as I hope to buy new rims shortly.

That dont leave much out does it! It looks like 255mm tyres need a 7 inch rim which is a bad news as hoping to fit wolf rims. Thanks for that Jzcktv.

Its always good news when im in the house :D

Loads of people run 255/85/16s on wolfs as they are taller and narrower than the normal 265/75 which is a size most folk go for.
