Squeeling 300tdi

300tdi is squeeling a bit, thought it was the belt.

Not doing it all the time, and when it does it seems to do it when the engines under load, knock it out of gear and it stops immediately.

I have done a bit of searching and tried the suggestions, penny trick etc.

In fact the penny trick seemed to make it worse so I took it back out tonight.

Need to try and get it sorted as I need a reliable motor. Appreciate its a 90 so its noisy but this isn't a pleasant noise. Only just started doing it.

Has had a new belt tensioner on it about 1000miles ago, was a good quality one so don't think its that but I guess it could be.

Was beginning to wonder if the bearings in the alternator are on the way out.

Any ideas appreciated. Need to get this sorted.

The penny trick is to cure a 'chirp', not a 'squeal'

Hmm, don't know what it is then. Penny trick made it worse for sure.

Must be something else associated with the belt.

Bugger.

"Squeals under load", I'd say it was bearings on the way out.

Don't forget water pump or power steering pump as well as alternator

Hope it's not the water pump, I put a new Oe quality one on some time ago at the same time I did the p gasket.
