Please can someone help me I have a 2003 RR hse I had the front brake disc and pads changed at halfords auto centre. When they were done when on route home about 10 miles in i had the window down and started to rear a squeaking coming from the drivers front wheel. The noise is a rotation noise going round and round. This squeaking mainly happens around 20-30 mph and the the moment I apply the brakes it stops. I take my foot off the brake again and if still around 20-30 mph it carries on
I took it back to halfords as thought it may have been the back plate from a google search. They checked and cleaned up the brakes and said it was fine. Once again I only got down the road and it happened again. It's a real annoying squeaking noise that mainly happens on a straight road no bumps etc and the second I apply the brakes it stops. But when I let go of the brakes they start again
I took it straight back and they came out with me and when he heard the noise he said it was the brakes.
They ordered in factory RR OEL brake discs and pads and replaced them both.
It was fine for about 20 miles but then once again it started I'll exactly the same as before.
This noise only started when I changed the front discs and pads.
PLEASE HELP I'm taking it back to halfords again but to be honest my time is ltd and getting annoyed keeping taking it back for something I have a feeling they will struggle to work out.
And to be honest I don't want to keep replacing things with them just guessing at what it could be.

not a problem , but if yu dont like it - get anti squeel shims or wait till the brakes bed in.

oh - and the introduce yoself section is ^^^^^^^ that way.

Normally you would be curtly dressed down for not making a proper intro in the appropriately titled "Introduce Yourself" section of the forum. The natives can be rather base around here, but I am a gentler form of creature (at least right now) so I will posit that you have sticky calipers and new pads that were not properly dressed with anti-squeal goop.

Thank you and sorry for the lack of intro it's the first forum I've ever joined and I set it up on my iPhone so I haven't helped myself.
I will get on my computer at work on Tuesday and fill it all out. In the meantime I am a first time range rover owner and love it to pieces thanks for the super quick replies.
In relation to the bedding in I've never had this noise on any other car is it normal on a RR?? And for the noise to happen when the brakes are not applied? And to stop when I apply the brakes? It's a good shout about the caliper just a shame the garage hadn't picked it up. Any further help would be great guys thanks

The new garage is a good shout also any recommendations on a good RR garage without the RR price tags in the weybridge surrey area.

As above, must use anti-squeal paste and check the caliper slide bolts aren't sticking....

Also use a decent garage!

nothing wrong with Halfrauds - same with any garage = its down to the quality of the staff. there is a good case to use a national chain rather than a back street cowboy

Apart from the intro, your first mistake was thinking Halfrauds are a garage !! They fit parts and if anything goes wrong, as in your case, they fit more parts. No, your problem is not solely a R/R problem so if they cannot cure it then doesn't it make you think, should they be trusted to play with brakes.:D:welcome2:

Ha very good point tomcat and starting to firstly regret getting the brakes done at halfords and secondly the lack of intro consider myself suitably embarrassed. I'm still trying to find the introduce yourself screen I can't seem to find it and it's not helping on an iPhone. I'll keep looking

This was why I asked for the advise as I already get the impression I'm banging my head against the wall. But at least I got RR Discs and pads out of it. Just a shame it's not sorted the issue and the noise is so annoying and loud it's embarrassing to drive my new toy :0(
Thanks for the garage recommendations and still looking for the introduce myself section!! But can't see it. Not sure if it's my phone it just me being blind.

seeing how Halfords staff members struggle to change lamps on peoples cars id never let them near my car !

have yu ever tried replacing a headlight bulb outside on a renault megane with 4 inches of snow on the ground? on a 60 plate peugeot 106? bumper off jobby.. front Indicator on an X5 :(
