Spotlights on a TD5 for an idiot.

Hi all, Just bought my first Landy at 19 years old last week. it's a 2000 D2 TD5 and i'm chuffed with it! the only problem is for me it's a work vehicle (farming) and i would like to be able to see FURTHER when off-road in the fields. The Full-beams are fine for on road use though.

Essentially i would like to install 2 spotlights to the bumper on a bar, and ideally, have them come on when the front fog lights are on (hooked up to the same switch)

As a complete noob, I have no idea what are the best lamps to go for and what is the easiest/safest way to set them up, any advice you guys have would be great but instructions need to be followable by a borderline idiot.. apologies in advance:confused2:

i can't help you choose the lamps but i tell you how to wire them>

take a feed from one of the fog lamps blue/purple wire and connect it to a normally open relay's coil pin(85), the other coil pin(86) to earth, take a live from the battery through a 15A fuse and connect it to the relay's contact pin(30) the other side(87)directly to the lamps... take earth for the lamps direct from the bumper or from some easy accessible place on the body/chassis... u can use the classic automotive relay which usually have the scheme drawn on it with the pin disposals so you'll know which is the coil and which the contact

use insulated female push on terminals on the wires which will fit on the relay's pins and on the fuse's legs too...in your case the switched feed to the relay's coil will come when the fog lamps are turned on not from a separate switch (see attachments and you'll understand...i hope)
