This is quite shocking

My misses said she could hear hissing near her rear tyre last night when she got home. I said to her - "I'll have a look in the morning" as it was too dark at the time.

Anyway, nearside rear was empty - it wasn't flat though as they are run flat tyres - so I put some air in it.

Yep, sure enough it's leaking. Let's see if I can find a nail or summat.

Nope, no nail - "Where the fecks it coming from then" I thought.

Then, I spotted it - "WHAT THE F*CK HAS SHE BEEN DOING?" I thought.

I checked the others and to my horror the other rear and offside front were the same. The tyre is litteraly splitting apart at the tread.

What the f*cks happened to them?

They are Dunlop so not cheapo Chinese crap.

They are definitely out of warranty but it's very worrying - the most precious things in my whole life are in that car.

Here's a piccy of it - see toward the right a big crack developing in the tyre, just right for a blow out:

There int much tread left as far as I can see. Surely the most precious things in your whole life deserve new tyres fitting on the car BEFORE it suffers a blow out.

You see the little raised bits in the tread? These are tread wear indicators and when the tread reaches the same as them its time to change your tyres. Hope I am not telling you summat you know already. Looks like they have been running quite hot and underinflated but I am no expert. It is a bit worrying though as you dont know how long they have been cracked.

No no no - trust me they are fine.

There's 5 mm left on em - it's just the camera angle that's making it look like they are worn.

I'm not a complete idiot

Car's booked in for tomorrow morning - she's gonna have a service, MOT and new tyres all round - gonna be costing me over £1000

Looks like you geometry is out as its wearing on one edge, wont be perishing due to UV cos its on the tread and thats either on the ground or i the shade.

Well spotted - apparently it was out and by quite a bit too.

All fixed now though with 4 new tyres and the tracking done - oh and a bank balance lighter to the tune of £1100 :doh::doh:

since the tread blistered on two dunlops and blew out in holes on a montego i had, i have never had dunlop tyres on any vehicle, i even left a new car i was going to purchase because the dealer would not change the dunlops for a different make, he was well ****ed.
