you guys call a spigot bushing what we call a pilot bearing...... And you call it a input shaft we call it a pilot shaft.......... Right Wammers;):D
 
Ok, and this time I'll try soaking it in oil first, since the previous bushes didn't last very long. Anybody know why this issue plagues Td5s?

Way back in time a spigot bush was always boiled up in gear oil and left to cool over night in the oil. ;) Also polish the spigot up with 800 grit wet and dry and WD40 or similar, clean it very well and pop a drop of oil on.
Now puritans may get their heads up their arses but filling the cavity behind the spigot bush with graphite grease is also something worth doing.

as stated above, the way to get oil into a sintered bush is to boil the oil and drop the bush into the boiling oil. this heat forces the air between the crystalline structure to expand and be released as bubbles. when the bubbles have stopped - ie all the air that can escape, has escaped, the oil is then allowed to cool. As the bush cools down, the oil is sucked into the cavities that held air. Once the oil is at room temperature, the bush is removed from the oil, and it is impregnated with oil.
 
Ok, will do. I had heard that filling it to the brim with oil while in the palm of your hand, and then squeezing your other palm on top of it until oil seeps through on the outside of the bush works too. I haven't tried this, but I want to just to see if it works!

Either way, I'll boil it afterwards to be sure… !
