My speedo on the D2 has just stopped working!! No warning lights or anything on the dash to suggest a problem!

Ive read that it is an electronic not cable speedo and the transducer is on the side of the transfer box, however there is also a suggestion that the system takes it road speed from the ABS at the wheels, but no definitive answer to date.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

i'll quote you from the manual to give you confidence that it's real:

Speedometer
The speedometer informs the driver of the current vehicle road speed. It has a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) to show
odometer, trip meter and, on automatic gearbox models, the selected gear. The speedometer will not show speeds
of less than 1.5 mph (2.5 km/h).
There are three different market configurations:
l NAS and UK = mph as major figures km/h as minor figures.
l Canada = km/h as major figures mph as minor figures.
l ROW and Australia = km/h only.
The Self Levelling and Anti-Lock Brake System (SLABS) ECU provides the signal input for the road speed. The signal
is at 8000 pulses per mile (1.6 kilometres).

so, if only the speedometer doesnt work it could be a wiring/contact issue, SLABS ECU output or instrument internal failure.
you have attached the circuit and involved connectors(the wire color is the real one), jiggle the connector on the instrument pack first, if no joy, water ingress/corrosion at the SLABS ECU plugs is quite common, check that too... you can make a continuity check on the wire from the ECU to instrument pack and if it's not interrupted IMO the instrument is gone... also nanocom or hawkeye can run a test for speedometer in the ABS menu

by the way... the odometer is counting?
