Speedo cable R380 to 80" head

Hi, anyone out there know how to connect the R380 transfer box to an 80" speedo head? Has currently got a defender speedo but want it to look more original. Will the speedo cable from a series 3 work - someone suggested it might.
Ideas?

i'm just guessing here, but would it be possible to dismantle the 80" speedo dial and fit the mechanism out of the defender one?? i've had dials apart before, not speedo's though, they are a bit of a fiddle but they do come apart!!

try it and use a satnav/gps to calibrate it?
