Speedo Busted!?

Hi there, I purchased my first Freelander on Sat. We were told that the speedo stuck on 50mph, and that when it happened to give it a gentle tap and it would correct itself. As expected, it did stick and we tapped it. However upon tapping it, the dial went right around the speedo clock and is now not working at all. The Mileometer works fine. What do you think this is....a faulty speedo or something more?
