Does anyone know how you tell the positive and negative coloured wires on the rear door speakers? Both left and right speakers have one blue/black and one green/black wire to them. I've cut off the connections and binned the doors as I'm building a pickup but I want to wire in new speakers to the existing wiring.

I'm going out on a limb here as others will know.
But I think the rear door speakers, if you mean the tail-gate door, are subs and therefore mono, so there is no danger of them being out of phase, so it don't matter which way round you wire them.
Now I've put my tin hat on and am running fast!:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Sh!t. just reread your post.
you meant the left and right doors didn't you?
as long as they are wired the same as the fronts then they won't be out of phase. Each wire has a trace colour in it, so match the solids to the solids in the fronts, and then the traces to the traces and then you will be OK.
TBH I don't think it makes a massive amount of difference but the purists will shoot me down, so, yes it makes a difference.;););)
(This is after a large G&T and a whisky on an empty stomach!!!):eek::eek::eek:

Yes, rear passenger doors. The speakers in the front doors have completely different coloured wiring.
All four sets do have to be different so you can't get them mixed up but in each pair you will see one solid coloured and one with a trace. Unless my memory is playing me up.
If the trace always goes to a positive, for instance, then just stick with that.
Have to admit I haven't looked at the wiring diagram.
If you are still stuck we'll dig deeper, but it shouldn't really be worse than that, unless my old brain is befuddled!

Right just looked more closely at the wiring diagram.
If they are both the same colour, which is fecking barmy, then yes you need to go back to the back of the H/U to see which wire is which and test each wire with a batt and a bulb or an MM to see which one is which at each speaker.
Maybe LR in their wisdom have also come to the conclusion that being out of phase really isn't such a big deal.
But I am shocked to find that the wires going to each speaker are both exactly the same colours.
where did you get the wiring diag from?

I don't have a multi-meter.

Each speaker wire is black with a different coloured trace. I was hoping there was some indication in the wiring diagram that would tell you which was positive or negative. I'm not brilliant with electrics I'm afraid and reading wiring diagrams isn't something I'm used to.

The information is in the Electrical library at the ICE description but first of all you must learn the colour codes cos BU=black/blue and BG= black/green not the other way around, so from the doc:
...
RH rear door speaker
The positive output from the head unit is connected on a BG wire to connector interface
C0436-1/C0803-1. From the interface the positive output continues on a BU wire to the RH
rear door speaker. The RH rear door speaker negative output is connected on a BG wire to
connector interface C0436-2/C0803-2. From this interface the negative output is connected
on a BU wire to the head unit.
...

LH rear door speaker
The positive output from the head unit is connected on a BY wire to connector interface
C0435-1/C0803-1. From this interface the positive output continues on a BU wire to the LH
rear door speaker. The LH rear door speaker negative output is connected on a BG wire to
connector interface C0435-2/C0803-2. From this interface the negative output is connected
on a BO wire to the head unit.

I'll dig out my wiring diags to see if there is any indication.
but the fact there is a trace will help.
and a multimeter only costs about a tenner.
Right I've found stuff in my Haynes and I also have access to RAVE
so after dinner I'll get back to you and hopefully give you a bit more help.

Looks like sierrafery has the info I need. From that information I'd conclude that the positive to the speakers is black/blue and the negative is black/green.

Thanks for all the help to both of you.
