I have a Defender 110 and have had to replace the back door. I have fitted a std wheel carrier however the previous owner has fitted 265 x 16 wheels and tyres and as such the studs are not long enough to mount the spare. Are there any quick fixes available attachable stud extensions etc ? Your advise greatfully receved ( I have considered returning to 235's but I need to free up the rear space for the rest of this winter) Thanks.

Hi welcome which part of the shire are you in ? As Mrjc said you should be able to mount your spare the other way round .

i dont really understand this?

a 265 tyre is wider than a 235 tyre..so what size tyres and type of rim are you runnin it maybe the rim and not the tyre choice allowing it not to fit

this my old 90 in its early days with a 265/75/16 tyre on the back door

you can get extension nuts that join 2 threads together if that any help as we use um at work, only m16 thread but sure you can get bigger, just cut old thread back enuf so wheel clears nuts, then add on aslong as you need..:p

Thanks to all who responded for your advise....I have aftermarket white 8 spoke wheels and the offset does not allow either way round to fit. I have purchased some threaded bar and welded extensions to the std carrier. Would you advise a narrover tyre for the snow as 265's I beleive to be frowned upon by Landy purists who say that the std offering is at 235 for a reason ??

I don't have a problem with my 265's in ths snow. The mud and crud that gets thrown up onto my windows does become a bit of a grind though.
