from The Green at old denaby over towards Old Road, look it up on google earth, looks like you can get all the way up it but the fence was down and i couldn't repair it on my own. probably take a sledge hammer if we go up that way and repair it for the landowner who adjoins the track??

will yr bro be up to offroad driving? bieng so new to a licence and all, suppose it will be terrifying if he just passed test!!!

If anyone fancies it ....

Tomorrow 10 am start an hour or two if we go very steady, on those tracks I took a picture of earlier in the thread. Suitable for novices, anyone really, nothing to come far for, they're farm tracks with only one small bumpy/muddy section, I don't use Lo-box or diff-lock at all.

Please post here if anyone's up for it, 'cos otherwise I'm not doing them, but it's the first time I've got time for a while.

hi mate, commited to working tomorrow, so won't be able to make it. shud be a good day with all the water thats come down in last 24 hrs tho!!!

post pics if ya go!!!

LOL, yeah. Not been out today at all. Should be a good contrast to the pics from the other week.

Well, went out, but not Bawtry, so no pics, sorry.

Went round Maltby on lanes as far as possible, there's quite a few little back lanes, mostly 'normal' tracks but two were quite rough and obviously very slippy today, loads of mud and water about, and in places very deep ... definitely a day when diff-lock and lobox was needed .. ;) Two lanes were particularly good, dunno name of.

Also nice to see a couple of other 4x4's using the lanes, albeit two Mitsubishi's, they followed me down one, but at the point I put Difflock on, they stopped and turned back .. ;)

Great halfday out, nice and steady.

Yeah my bro will be up for it, he's done it before more times than i have, he's been to langdale quest a fair few times so, he is a bit better than i am. so still up for that little track out bawtry way in the new year anyone? Not able to get on net weekends so post me before an i'll get back before working week is out.

Looked on the maps at the lane in Denaby, it turns into a footpath after Denaby Wood, going towards Conisbrough(Conanby), so I'd be careful and check it on Def. Map first.

However ... If you fancy a day out in New Year, and most of you seem to come from Rotherham-ish area, how about the following ...

Jan 11th 2009, start near J31 M18. I've been out and done a few lanes round Maltby, North and South and can link them in via a couple of other lanes to the Bawtry ones I know and we could make a reasonable day of it. I'd estimate about 60+ miles of driving, mostly back roads but obviously a couple of A roads, with maybe 12+ miles of lanes. Would take about 4/5 hours, depends on comfort breaks etc Most of the lanes are dead easy, even if very wet and muddy. One of them could be a bit scratchy, but my Disco's a bit scratchy anyway ... ;) Nothing to really get stuck in, even on road tyres (I have BFG AT's) and nothing much to damage anything. Couple of places are tight, but I got through with room to spare. I'd say a Freelander could do them all, BUT ... you'd also get to see some really nice bits of the area you don't normally see, which makes up for the polishing needed afterwards. We also go past Roche Abbey, on the road mind, so even the road bits are reasonably interesting and mostly small, twisty etc though there are inevitably a couple of A road bits ... can't be helped round here !

There's a natural (almost) midway point in Tickhill by the DuckPond where we could stop for a sandwich, flask o' tea etc.

If anyone's up for it PM me, and I'll sort a proper route out on Memory Map, instead of my usual meandering about, maybe start a separate thread?

Be careful what you post There are tossers and idiots on these forums as well as decent landy owners. You don't want to turn up at the lane to find it blocked by rubbish or ripped to pieces by morons with oversized mudtyres, or worst TRO'd because of the way they've been driving. details are best kept to pm's & if you don't know the people who are coming that should be kept to a start point & brief details only

Fair points, I guess I'm a bit naive. I've not mentioned anything too specific I think ..

Just call me fick

oi fick, yr safe with me, i have long been a walker in the 'country' although i'm not a tree hugger i'm certainly respectful of the land and landowners. after all i wouldnt want somw **** driving on my land and fecking it up for the animals and farm buisness if was a landowner.

the annoyance is the kids who knick cars, burn em out on said lanes then the council close to all traffic!

Count me & the gaffer in for sure have not laned for years & bless she is a virgin so need to impress so i can play againas we all know boys the wife knows best ! ha ha cheers mark
