sounds rough on petrol

Hi All,

I have a 98 v reg landrover discovery 1, 3.9ltr v8 i automatic with lpg gas convertion, when I start it up and run it on petrol it sounds really rough, when its in neutral the rev counter is up and down from its settling point to 1000 revs all the time, when in drive it wants to jump forward so I have to be aware with my brakes and when the car is in motion it sounds like it could stall sometimes, has anyone had any problems like this? or has anyone any idea's on how to fix this.

Its worth mentioning that when the car is warm and running on gas its as smooth as a nut?
