Hello
Today I am replacing the radio unit. Mine is Kaput.
SO I bought an android Chinese etc. etc. etc.
I have connected the cable and only plays if the amp is connected...so that is very good the amp works.
Now the questions and probs.
The front right speaker and twitter work fine. Back right the twitter works and the speaker works but very low.
Right side both twitters work but speakers are quiet.
My Sub is kaput.

So if twitters work but speakers are silent....speakers are kaput? if I want to replace them what is the measure to buy?
What Sub to buy in terms of measure to.

Many thanks to all

Hi Anubis, do a little bit of searching on the forum, earlier this year there were a spate of threads about the sound system on facelift freelanders, which usefully included the pertinent sections of wiring diagrams. Armed with those diagrams you will probably be able to get to the bottom of the sound system issues. On one hand I'm tempted to say just run new wires to the speakers and use the integral amplifier on the head unit, on the other hand, given there is a chance your vehicle has a Harmon Kardon system installed, it would be almost sacrilegious to leave it redundant while running an integrated Chinese amp?

Going back to the had unit - what unit did you go for in the end up? Reason I ask is that I've recently done a conversion on my freelander retrofitting a facelift dash centre to give me the ability to put a double din head unit in there. At the minute I'm running a cheap and basic unit, but the plan is to upgrade to an android based unit with extra functionality. Given most of these things are advertised in "engrish" it's always good to get owners reviews of them.

Don't know if this will be of any benefit to you, but I know other aftermarket android / windows ce head units I've ran have never had RDS on the radio, so I was having a google trying to find out WHY that was, and found a thread on another, non land rover, forum that had an APK file available for download that seemingly has RDS functionality. I'll paste the link immediately below this paragraph so you can have a look see if you need to.

Hello
Yes mine is the HSE and it has the Harmon Kardon system installed.
So you say that this issues with my speakers is to do with the Chinese din?

Hi, check the wiring to the speakers that are quite, mine had that green terminal corrosion on them but after cleaning them up they worked fine. I fitted a Kenwood DAB to mine but had to buy the adaptors to get the steering wheel & amp to work( see pics). Far better than the original Becker unit.

The main driver speakers are known to fail. If the tweeters are working, then the wiring is OK, so you'll need to replace the main drivers.

They are a custom fitting as far as screw placements are concerned, but the cutout in the panel will take a standard 6 1/2" driver. I installed JVC universal drivers in my SE, simply drilling new screw holes, they were a good improvement on the OE drivers. I also soundproofed my door panels.

There is a cheap sub driver available, which has been used successfully, and linked in various threads on the topic.

So I to buy speakers 16.51cm in diameter?
Nodge yours look very cool....
The AMP is working because if I dc the sound stops. I don't really care about the steering controls because in our days this double din are so easy to streach your hand and change music or volume.
Many Thanks
