Hello, I just wanted to let people know that I have made a major leap forward in the sound proofing department. I got a load of old lino from work, industrial stuff, and I have cut it and molded it with a heat gun to fit all the interior panels and glued it on with parquet floor glue, siliconed the edges, roughed it up and painted it and it really has made a massive difference, and because it is all glued to the individual panels you can still work on everything and aside from the indentations not being visible in the footwells, you can't even tell it's there. Feeling pretty smug at the moment, the mrs even said it was quite quiet, we didn't have to shout any where near as loud as usual.

I'm going with the horse box foam approach for mine, got a roll sat in the shed awaiting to be installed :)
 
I 've wondered about something like this....I've read that glueing something directly to panels stops them transfering noise by adding mass and damping vibration rather than the more usual approach of great wadges of stuff layered on.......wondered how effective it was, good to hear it works....thanks for that, gonna give it a go......oh yeah.....pics?
 
Sorry, no pics, I don't own a digiggle camera, and I doubt I ever will, I can barely even use this site let alone tiny camera buttons and USBs and windows and files, but one day, if someone comes round with one I'll put some on, but don't hold your breaths. It all just looks like the original panels, but a little thicker, nothing to look at really. That's why I'm so pleased.
 
Ive got one of those acoustic matts that exmor trim sell in mine its the dogs nuts but friggin expensive think i paid around £300 for mine :(
 
Found the solution!!!

Drove to work last week with Ipod in ear headphones in.

Did a good job of blocking the noise, even without music on.

A set of noise cancelling headphones would be even better.

Passengers can just put up with it!! Although they are welcome to use their own Ipods

I tried sound proofing my defender pick up. Found some chequere plate
lino and stuck that to some thin foam. It does dull the sound but i think
i will redo it at somepoint with some much thicker foam
