Hi, I only have 1 question to ask. Do I need to have a licence to collect WVO from my local chineese takeaway?

I have looked but couldn't find an answer. This is for personal use only. NOT to sell on.

No but you must issue a waste transfer notice so the chiipy can prove where its waste oil is going.

Best of luck with oil from a chinese:5bpuke::5bpuke::5bpuke::5bpuke:

I think you need a waste license to be able to issue the certificate though - you can apply, it costs about a hundred quid.

Its only the chinese that gets into trouble though, if the EHO gets on to them, which they never do.

I phoned my local council offices about this as I wasn't sure and they said I didn't need a waste carriers license to take the stuff home but I had to give paperwork to the place I get it stating my personal details, the date and the amount of oil taken. I have to keep a copy of this anorl.

I had the eho at work 2 weeks back and he asked what I did with my waste oil so I told him that I take it home to be used as fuel, he didn't care about any paperwork for it.

Best bet is to phone your local authority and ask, I'm sure they all have different ideas about what you should do.

If you produce the waste you don't need any paperwork to move it around.
You need a waste carriers license if you sell any oil you collect for profit.
If you are a private indevidual making bio or using wvo you only have to issue a WTN.

OK, I have now called the environment agency and they say that if it is for personal use only you can collect the oil WITHOUT needing a collector licence but you do have to use a waste transfer note (in this thread, thanks everlatesparky). I hope this helps all in the u.k and will stop another thread being started.
