I am strongly considering a TD5 conversion for the 90 - want more power :eek:

Thing is, I don't have the full knowledge, time or equipment to do it.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any shops that would do a td5 into an early 90 without a stupid price (I know it will be a lot but lets be realistic)

Well I did read is was a pain with all the wiring changes and such. Other alternative is to get a hybrid turbo, even bigger inter cooler and perhaps a better ratio transfer box for better cruising speed. Thing is, TD5 tuning is a well explored move but tdi tuning not so much it seems. I know they are less tuneable and the most you're gonna get from one is about 150hp or so. seems like a lot of modifications for about 30hp or so!

Hehe, I'm sure. She ain't that slow for a 25+ year old 4x4 but still want more :p
TD5 would have been nice but after reading into it more, it seems like too much of a faff. Hybrid turbo and a massive inter cooler seem the way... But alot of money for a little gain.
 
If you really want to do the conversion buy a Disco TD5 (1999 0n), they fetch next to nothing and you'll have all the bits you need bar engine mounts and a few other bits. It has been done and if I had the expertise I would do it myself, here's the link;
