Normally a sure way of seeing if you have a leaky heater matrix is:
1, condensation on the windscreen
2, coolant leak
3, wet footwells
4, orange/pink marks behind the dash often on the corrugated pipe on the passenger side
If in doubt stick your finger in the wet footwell. Antifreeze has a sweet taste.
