Hi Guys....

Looking for some green laning areas around the somerset area in the south west.

Ive tried looking online but havent got anywhere. My mate has told me about Dundry by bristol which is a sorta cross between greenlaning and proper stuck-in-the-mud Offroading which for my truck and my skills is a little too much so looking for something where i can go and have some fun as a beginner as such.

Hope somebody knows of somewhere,

Thanks :)

Hi bud,

I've been looking for some lanes in the same sorta area (i'm from bristol) best bet is to get some OS maps, have a look for byways on them. Theres a few round keynsham way. I wouldn't mind trying somewhere round dundry, I dont have a map that covers that yet! lol

Hi Matty,

Great idea, mate did show me a couple of lanes, which was ok to see what the truck could do, up round the back of locking down to loxton but nothing worth coming from bristol for.

If you check out Dundry Off Road | 4 x 4 driving | Bristol there open this sunday with 52 acres of land ready for offroaders to attack from the newly aquainted to the full-on Mud-lovers. Maybe worth a look if youve got no plans sunday :)

Hiya

I know you were asking about byways, but there are two pay and play sites near Chippenham (Jct 17 of M4), Minety which is north of the junction and over a bit and Foxham which is just south and very near the junction. I've not been to either but fancy a trip to Foxham soonish

: )

Keynsham does have some good lanes but I've only been and followed people so have no idea where they were. There is always Wiltshire, we've lots of lanes and Salisbury plains over here.

Get yourself some of the OS maps

Have a click on the 'Adjacent Maps' as well to see the surrounding ones.

Serviced the Disco today, went out with my bro and some maps this evening to celebrate (I like doing lanes at night, puts a different perspective on things!) found some real nice relatively good length lanes just south of Radstock, a few were gated and others a bit too tight for a Disco but we did find some good muddy tracks, not too deep rutted but good undulating routes, one through a river! slippery fun on wet clay on one in particular! :)

I cant make this sunday, i'll be working, but Dundry will be attacked soon. Gotta sort out my rear arch rub first, took a chunk out of my tire this evening! eeek...

Stretchie u must be right near me. I'm in Swindon. Looking to do some lanes and p&p's soon. Prob weekend of the 20th November if your interested?

I got my salisbury plain map... just waiting for a weekend when i'm not working. Would be nice to get a group together for an outing? There seems to be a few of us not too far away from the south west-ish area

get in touch with devon 4x4 at south molton,, they used to run escorted tours on exmoor... as did LRO magazine..

Don't bother bunch of ****ers at D4x4. and they don't stick to GLASS rules like good guiding companies do.

I'll be organising a trip to The Plains in the new year. I'll put the details up nearer the time.

Lots of great ideas here then, looking at getting weston and surrounding area map to see if anything near-by. Gonna be heading to Dundry this sunday and have taken Truck out over locking tonite as weve had some rain down here and been some nice muddy puddles and needed 4 wheel drive tonite so i know now it definately works!!! lol

Organised trip sounds good if we can get some good Treks to get into!
