Woke up this morning, looked out of the window and thought the landy had spilt it's guts...

Then went to see what had snapped and found this!

There was hardly any in it anyway, and they must have left most of it on the road. I never keep much in the tank in case it leaks anyway, but didn't bank on someone bothering to take what was there.

Is it easy to replace this pipe? I'll gaffer it up for now, or maybe slap silicon over it.

Shouldn't the thread title be 'someone spilt my diesel'?

I'd get a sack of oil absorbent granules to soak that lot up if I were you.

If someone had an accident on it, irrespective of wether it's your fault or not YOU are liable as it came from your vehicle.

I think it was nicked because there was about 15 litres in the tank, and that would have made a lot more mess than what went on the road...also, that cut wouldn't let any diesel spill on its own - it's been sucked out of that hole.

I've cleaned up the diesel too - dumped a load of sand on it.

You oughta stick a v8 badge on it. They'll think it's petrol and won't bother then.:p

You are lucky they did not just put a hole in your tank

That's what I thought had happened as soon as I saw it - and was quite relieved really that it was only through the rubber filler pipe, and also that they left the landy behind!

It is very rural here, so I guess they just drive around looking for suitable defenders. I'll report it and see if anyone else got done too!

Thank your lucky stars it was'nt the Landy they nicked !
Ba****ds stole my beloved Landy on Friday 13th !! I had it from new looked after it like it was a child, wanted to keep this car forever - bloody weekends are Crap without my "girl"

i think its the tree huggers trying to **** us off so well go out and buy somat crap like a prius.cos legitimate methods of stopping us havent worked

i had this happen to me years ago. sad when people ar cutting pipes when they may only get a dribble of fuel and it would be easyer to unscrew the tank plug. shame we cant get flame thrower alarms to tourch the f*****s when they try this.

I have just done that job (had to remove tank for chassis weld), The price of the rubber hose was about £25 +vat (oem, had to order).
I used a compressed air 'cut off tool' to slice through the three hose clips. without that it would have been hard to saw them, I doubt that they will unscrew.
I also removed the filler tube to clean it up and found a few 'pin holes' on the shielded side of it so I gave it a new one, £45+vat, quite thin tinned plate a bit poor really (oem, had to order).
Nice new stainless clips, nice new stainless screws and washers, everything Waxoyled up to hell, a few days in the life of...
Hope that helps. Nice people....

Looking at the pictures it looks like you have a wheel nut missing on the drivers front ?????
