my wheels are 15x10 with -50 offset. no scrubbage on mine at all, they just kiss the extended arches on full articulation though.

Can that be done without modifications and is it safe? It looks simple in theory, but I've noticed that the outside of the my steelies (where you bolt them) are machined to locate the nut correctly.

Lots of people reverse the disco steelies wIthout problems as far as I know

The taper on the nuts probably fits just inside the hole and locates them, and then you get a nice low offset

You're never gonna see a competition vehicle on reverse steelies, but I wouldnt have thought it would be a problem generally

I think that your wagon is what most Disco owners aspire to having if they are up for messing about in the rough stuff!

I have just fitted a +2 suspension kit on mine and have some 265/85/16 A/T tyres to go on standard alloys, not a patch on the work you have done but it's a start for me, been battling with the water leaks from the sunroof and side windows for 2 weeks!

Hey you gotta start somewhere, this vehicles first mods was 31" Tyres and 40mm lift blocks, and it was great offroad even then

I left my sunroofs open in some light rain the other day and not a patch inside, I concluded that my sunroofs leak more when closed than they do when they are open

Mine are standard Discovery steelies. I ground down the welds then pressed out the centres of the wheels, flipped them round then re-welded them back in place.
This means they push the wheel and tyre out the arch allowing full steering lock to lock but still allowing the bolts to line up correctly and not loosen off.

Er well hammered the centres back in roughly then put them on the hub and spun the wheel with a fixed bar near the rim. When the rim rubbed on the bar that bit was hit with a hammer until it was the same all the way round.
Pretty ghetto but does the job. :lol:

Ah, you can't beat a good hammer! ( well you can cos that is what they are for)

I worked in a panel shop for 15 years and the two main tools were a big hammer and a little hammer! As trained by Audi and Volkswagen!

Love the motor sam, looks the dogs nads!! Trying to do the same with my fender but everytime I put something on it, I break something else while off-road lol it's like a circle I keep chasing problems!!!

they are flatdog 2" arches actually, my tyres stick out a bit, tee hee

and yeah sible im afraid thats the story of my life too tbh, later in the day from when this pic was taken i was reversing into a banking (trying to get it turned round) and the exhaust pipe got caught, the pipe came off its hangers and moved sideways, and then pulled the rear quarter off with it!!!

Damaged the passenger quarter a few weeks ago, so removed them both last night along with bumper.

It needs a rear crossmember, boot floor and a lot of arch welding.

Have been putting it off for ages!!

FINALLY the welding repairs are finished!

Now just need to put it back together!!

I saw a GIANT disco drive past me at the weekend. The bottom of the body sat higher than the top of the wheels. How is that possible :-o

Any idea what the lift/price scale is? Is it just buy a sus/spring kit and lift it then bung massive wheels on or what?
