hi there
Finally I got my 88 running today after 2 years :) She fired right up without probs...
I just have two questions...
Why does she runs smooth when using the choke and not without it ?! Could it be that she wasn't warmed up?? Or is it that the volume mixture screw of the carb isn't set right?? (at the moment the screw is two revolutions turned out)

(2.25 petrol ; carb . zenith 361V)

And how can I adjust the clutch ?? because the clutch reacts as soon as you lift your foot. Would be good to get some space ...

thank you in advance :D

See if the engine runs smoothly when it's warm - it's a big lump of iron and takes a while to warm up. If you still need choke it may mean its running lean - a clean and rebuild of the carb might solve the problem but check the carb body joint for warping and the carb/manifold joint for leakage.
There is no adjustment in the S3 clutch but the hydraulics might be shot. Top up and bleed the system as a first action, it might come good. Replacing the hydraulic bits isn't too expensive and is reasonably easy. If this doesn't fix it then the clutch is worn and it's a gearbox out job. If the clutch used to work OK then it's probably the hydraulics at fault.

hi there, start by removing the cover plate on the clutch pedal box,and peel the boot back on the master cyclinder,if fluid dripps out,ur master cyclinder is leaking, then check underneath the motor for fluid leak from the slave cylinder, just above the exhaust pipe at the front after the down pipe, and then check your flexi pipe, and obviosly your fluid level aswell! if all is good, try bleeding your system first,as your clutch master cyclinder my be adjusted fine! if that makes no difference then go about adjusting your clutch master cyclinder!

hope this helps! :D

thank you for your help, the problem with the clutch is now sorted out , their was air in the system. the master cyclinder is leaking a littel bit so i will replace it once i order new parts...
Tried driving it, all went good ;)

now i still have the problem with the carb... although i rebuild it with the kit from britpart...
It runs fine on the choke but without it,it is doing backfires and throws oil out of the exhaust even when warmed up.. :/

could it be that the volume mixture screw is a different one than the original ?
original had broken of so i needed replacing it...
