does any 1 have any idea how to change the front diff pan,i recently went out and smashed up the front diff pan not a prob il get a new 1 as it looked easy enough to replace until i looked at it and thought how, it looks welded around the outside its for a defender 90??

exactly - its welded on - bit of a bugger to do anorl - yu need to remove the diff, clean all the insides to remove any oil, cut off the old one and them dind someone wot can weld pretty good to cast.

the new one doesn't need to be seam welded.
it can just be tacked in 4 places, then a seam of JB Weld run around the outside.
mine was done like that 2 years ago - absolutely fine.

yeah they're not cast, thats the diff casing. i would weld it properly and fit a diff guard too.

just make sure you have a good gas flow so you dont end up with porous welds

i think you must have been thinking of diff casings as they are cast, and i think Salisbury axles are cast........ i think
